JSEA announces newly appointed Board of Directors

JSEA (Japan Ship Exporters' Association) elected Mr. Masamoto Tazaki, Chairman of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, as its new President of JSEA at their 558th JSEA executive board meeting on 21 May 2009. Vice Presidents and Senior Executive Director were also appointed at the meeting.

MHI and Wartsila to Jointly Develop Small-size Marine Diesel Engines

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Wartsila Corporation of Finland will jointly develop new small, low-speed marine diesel engines with cylinder bores of 350 and 400 millimeters (mm). The two companies agreed on joint design and development of engines of less than 450 mm cylinder bore in May 2008, based on a previously signed strategic alliance agreement. Niigata Power Systems increases productivity of leading products

BRASIL MARU was awarded the best large tanker & cargo vessel, while SHIGE MARU was awarded the best small tanker & cargo vessel. MHI Completes First "UEC45LSE," 450 mm Bore 2-stroke Marine Diesel

(MHI) has added a new model, the "UEC45LSE" with a cylinder bore of 450 mm (millimeters), to the company's highly reputed 2-stroke marine diesel engine "UEC-LSE Series," and full-fledged marketing of the new engine is already under way. The UEC45LSE is successor to the company's UEC52LA, the best selling marine diesel in its class, and it has achieved the highest fuel efficiency in this class.
